Hold’em Poker for Advanced Players - By David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth

This fine book, in its third edition and fifth printing as of September 2003, provides a bridge for those players looking to move their game up a notch to another level.

Although I recommend its content be read several times, due to the complexities that the two authors pose, the reader will gain valuable knowledge and insight into imploring winning strategies.

The question and answer portion of the book is invaluable and situational scenarios provide the reader an opportunity to evaluate their own thoughts on playing a hand, with that of two seasoned and prestigious poker players, who I might add, can write very well.

I would imagine in future editions; more attention may be included concerning “today’s” looser players. Not really maniacs, just those newcomers willing to play lots of hands, which tends to tilt the table when more than several compete in a pot at the same time.

The book is worth the $30-$35, however, newcomers should avoid reading this book until they have completed some of the entry level reading which is necessary to build a solid footing to which this book can build on.
